- Ignition was founded by Douglas Laube in 1985 as Douglas Laube Industrial Design.
- The company name was changed to Ignition in 1994 to reflect expanded services.
- Ignition is headquartered in the Dallas suburb of Plano, Texas. We have additional offices in Taipei, Taiwan, and Harbor City, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
- Our Dallas headquarters occupies an award winning 27,000 square-foot, custom-designed facility in the middle of the North Texas Research and Technology Corridor.
- Ignition has 50 employees, 40 in the US and 10 in Asia.
- Our design and product development team includes five disciplines: User Research, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Prototyping and Manufacturing Support.
- Ignition holds 48 design patents. The company’s first was secured in 1992, for NEC’s Combined Mobile Cellular Telephone Handset and Transporter.
- Ignition has earned dozens of design awards, including the Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA), CES Best of Innovations, Excellence in Design Award, Design of the Decade Award and more.
